The collection is housed in the Byzantine church of Ascension at Livadi. It is a single-room, vaulted temple without mural decoration, granted by the Holy Metropolis of Kythira.
The collection includes samples of artists of the island from the early to late post-Byzantine period, wall paintings of churches of Kythera, fragments of early Christian mosaics, Byzantine icons and silverware objects, metalwork and ceramics.
